Born Poor To Make Us Rich

"For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that ye through His poverty might be rich."
- 2 Corinthians 8:9, KJV

In the richness of His grace, Christ the Son of God and Heir of all things subjected Himself to the poverty of this world, being:

(a) born in a poor condition and not in a kingly manner as He should have deserved;

(b) made to live a lowly life and not a lordly life as He should have deserved; and

(c) murdered in a humiliating way and not being enthroned as He should have deserved.

Yet in His merciful Deity, He willed that these things should happen in order for those who will receive Him and believe in His Name (John 1:12) to inherit the riches of heaven and earth (Romans 8:17, Galatians 4:4-7 Matthew 5:5) that the Father wants for them (Luke 15:31).

This is the very reason why we have Christmas, because Christ, in His great love for us, reached down to our dire and undeserving estate (being sinners - Revelation 3:17) that He may bring us up to the honorable estate (being a holy royal priestly nation - 1 Peter 2:9) that the God of both love and justice wants for us.
