David de la Croes, 5 may 2016
A cage is opened
Stiff wings retracting, spreading
Blue skies are calling
David de la Croes, 5 may 2016
It has been a long time since
I have been away from you
and tonight, I miss
your soft-glowing presence,
and the serenading shadows
conducting the silky symphony
of your peeling clothes.
I miss your reassuring steps,
as you approach the bed,
and the gentle sagging
of the mattress as you press down
to bend over to kiss my cheek
as I fall into a blissful sleep.

Pardon my mask
I will put you on pedestal to torment me,
because you were necessary
for my existence.
When I prepare finally my death wish
you can smile.
Your eyes are looking through my head,
I know,
you were hurt from my moon face.
I will wash your feet with my tears now.
Exhausted, nameless in a crowd
I was counting my see-through triumphs
all piled up as burned out bones.
To live without meaning is very painful.
Everything is abused for self gratification.
Over a black sky, against the mountains
the old silence becomes teeth of a dead faith.
Gert Strydom, 4 may 2016
Please do forgive all the sin that I have done,
even that heart-held unmentioned one
and all of the vain and evil thoughts, which came before
of which the effects do in the lives of others still run
Please do forgive the sin which fortune for me has won,
also the ones that I in my heart of hearts do shun,
where in innocence I took They name in vain
and those when out of control I do spun
and all the thoughts that were impure and many more
of which your just record does keep score
and all of the times that I have caused pain,
brought trouble to another’s door.
I know that You do sin utterly deplore,
but please take me safely to heaven’s far off shore.
Satish Verma, 4 may 2016
Are you genuine, I ask?
Your face, a stone wall,
I had been bruising my psyche against it.
I have no strength to bury myself alive,
in the mass grave of lies.
An ancient fear
descends from the hill.
Wants to marry a tree.
Or worship the terror
of a diaspora.
The vultures are dying every day,
We were talking of pregnancy,
desire and death.
The sparrows are gone.
Heat is rising.
I am starting the countdown.
Gert Strydom, 3 may 2016
Near Grootfontein at Hoba West
in Namibia
I saw the fifty-five ton rock lie imbedded
into the earth
where as a fireball it fell from the sky.
That burning piece of iron rock,
could have fallen upon my town Springs,
could have wiped my suburb,
my home into the naught,
like a nuclear device dropping from up high,
in bolide form could have exploded
in blue thunder, could have vaporized
everything in the vicinity
including me, my dogs, my cats
and neighbours too.

Death took you away from us
The permanence of this great loss
Struck us like a thundering bolt
And brought us back to earth with a jolt.
You were a pillar of great strength
You guided us for quite a length
You inspired us to move ahead
And helped us use our own head
Children used to treasure
The time you spent with them with great pleasure
You taught them young the slokas
And took them to their own lokas
Youngsters used to adore
The knowledge you always bore
They always like the space
And the learning they got at their own pace
Adults would always feel your presence
To whom you would always give guidance
Whether they accepted or not wouldn’t hurt
you would give the next with an additional spurt
A great challenge for the lord above us
To create another father and duplicate thus
From the heaven above you would surely bless
Death can never take you away from us.

When I had to choose between love & hatred, I chose love
When I had to choose between positive & negative, I chose positive.
When I had to choose between truth & lie, I chose truth.
When I had to choose between life & living, I chose life.
When I had to choose between friends & foe, I chose friends
When I had to choose between happiness & joy, I chose joy
When I had to choose between better & best. I chose best
When I had to choose between you & me, I chose you.
I know the choice I made is the best for me more than you.

The television they see
the television they hear
But that is what, I fear
will bring the doom near! !
The news, the songs, the movies they see
The words, the music, the dialogues they hear
The matches they see and cheer
brings my neighbor near to tear! !
I am always in fear
If my child will clear
the last and final year
but that, never bothers my dear! !
The young, the old all alike
see the TV through the night
which always delays my supper
and that too without salt or pepper! !
The news, the movies I never see,
because I always want to be
as busy & ever busy as an ant
& never want to be called Top Vacant (TV) ! !

Symbols are true, because they are there.
Your solemn ache
proud of failure
traces a circle.
Dark and eternal, in all its purity
punishment becomes an award for life.
It is not difficult to know
whether a god exists.
You commit suicide to become a god.
Inoculating falsehood
dying daily unto death was not my pitch.
Your mind breaks the moon in dark,
into hundred bright crumbs.
Each bit becomes a metaphor
To shock the garden.
