Meeting

For a moment your hand rests cool in mine,
when you wish me a happy new year,
when our eyes meet deep, when you introduce yourself
and I know that you are extremely lovely,
for moments this contact lingers with me
while the pace of my heart quickens,
the contact becomes something intimate and intense,
a place away from a world of pain.
