I have found a kind of pure innocence (cavatina)

I have found a kind of pure innocence
in your bright eyes,
in your words great sincerity and truth,
you tell no lies,
I will not stare at you, vex your feelings,
act grave and wise
but just want to know the depths of your soul,
find happiness in a world that is foul.

We did linger in each others company (cavatina)

We did linger in each others company
for long moments,
I could bring smiles to the faces of others,
but my comments
did not do a thing to your lovely face,
even events
of happy times were only slipping past you
and I wondered about what to do?

In the strangeness behind you pretty eyes
I want to dwell,
to explore the world that’s inside your head,
I do know well
that there are things that are hidden, that we
do not just tell,
the things in our lives, even if just small,
help us to rise high and to slip and fall.

Eclipse

Like a Godly sign
of tranquil illustrious sanctity
a shadow falls over me
and it’s falling further and further

and the moon does colour
to copper-red,
the light becomes dark
and stars near to the eclipse
become visible in brought daylight.

There is darkness falling over the earth
as far as my eyes can see
while the moon does extinguish the sun
and the sun becomes black
in a full eclipse
and the sun has a photosphere
with a blue-white hue
that hangs around it.

It’s almost as if God Himself
is holding out His hand
and now creates a shadow
to protect the earth
from a flaming star.

What great events
are now waiting upon this earth
that is torn by wars,
by disasters, suffering and human misery?

I is for immoral

If you play the word game
to some people
I is for innocent,
or for me
or imagine
but to me
I is for immoral.

I have experienced people
deceiving each other
being depraved and dissolute
for advancement,
to make money
and just for the fun of it.

Acting as if there is no God
and without conscience
as if satisfaction to the self
is all that there is to life.

On God’s holy day I went to church

On God’s holy day I went to church
and got a great sermon there
and there were strangers from everywhere

and I had been in company
with Him who knows everything
who sees my life for what it is
and peace, love and tranquillity
became my very own

Onslaught

When water falls as streams
out of the air,
when thunder roars ominous
from the blue sky
the earth at times
are covered by clouds of fog
that blots out everything
and somewhere in this world
you and I are caught up
in our own small existence
while God folds His hand over His world
and constantly controls the weather
and it feels like an experiment
into which we are cornered
while a fierce struggle,
rages about the earth.

INDOORS

Today,
small things ask some uncomfortable
questions. I enter the eye of a wound.

Unscathed, will i obey the law
of believing; the round mirror?
It reflects the absolute truth?

Consolations,
they begin the attack in the valley
of thoughts; words, were hung
over the paper, spill the ink

like blood on the street.
Who will lift the corpse?

Words on the wings;
let them drop
like stones, like knives. The flesh is raw,
bones white a century is going to sing.

Our World

In this world full of hatred,
May we find a glimmer of peace?
This death, fear and anguish,
Will it ever truly cease?
As humans we wage war,
War that tears apart our nations.
And we wait for it to end,
Through misguided patience.
For centuries we have fought,
Fought against sisters and brothers.
Shedding blood, spreading hate
Killing one another.
But it seems we are growing,
Growing as a whole.
This peace that is dreamed of,
One day we shall fit this mold.

A DAY OF COUNTING

You gave it
when you were poor.
Today I went to unwrap the gift.
The soul! Ripping out from the body
to deconstruct my vernacular pain.

Pulling off the toenails to extract a promise.
Feet first; the birth of a child to die sooner in the crib.
My brother, tell me, do you understand
my imperishable grief.

For a future's peace
sing my poem, sing ascendancy.
For laughing skulls in a killing field,
ideation will become a routine talk.

Give me a hand, brother,
am I insane?
Becoming teeth of wisdom was a crime?

PUZZLES

hopscotch, retrieve a pebble
from the lake,

sitting under a tall tree
i will wait
for leaves to fall
on water;

i will see through my seeds
a relief of roses,

overnight
in the soccer field
tiny mushrooms
popped up, wearing white caps
to see the game-

turning the pages of a book
opens a museum,
i come on you
not accusative
