Day after day

Day after day and week after week
your love I do constantly seek
and whether you act wild
or very gentle and meek

and nothing can my love rearrange
and to some it may be strange
that I love you deeper still
as my feelings do not change.

TIME’S BURDEN

I am not too well, he felt.
The flames chased him in charred landscape.

Fighting over, he pondered about the
crime within, the surge to find a nest hole.

A wounded pride where the salmonella hits.
You enter a slot for more enticements.

Any patch of vague tragedy among the barren
desirability, shares the accident with sacrifice.

Unhappy, you reverse the mode of retrieving
against the terms of swimming alone.

Where was the death’s arc to capture
the mistakes of life? Was an archaism

sufficient to kill the untruth? No implant
will enhance the height of achievement.

Poem: The Partridge in the Pear Tree

The symbolism of this Christmas classic
has a second, hidden meaning for the ages.
For this song has an ulterior motive,
contained in verses that seem outrageous.

Christ is the truest fulfillment of Love,
in the primary doctrine of Christianity;
therefore, He is the focus of each refrain,
being the sin offering on Crucifixion’s tree.

The pair of turtle doves represents books,
volumes of both the Old and New Testaments.
The Bible embodies the Spirit of God calling…
for the World to turn to Christ and repent.

The three french hens stand for the trinity
of metaphysical concepts: Faith, Hope and Love.
Despite questionable claims, Love requires action-
and that some of us need a gentle, spiritual shove.

Four calling birds correspond to the Good News,
found in accounts of Matthew, Mark, Luke & John.
Together they present a harmonious view of Christ
and the divine message of the Gospel’s Song.

The five golden rings echo the Jewish Torah,
one of the first accounts of God’s spiritual laws.
Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy
remind of Redemption’s need to offset human flaws.

Six geese a-laying demonstrate the creativity of God,
regarding His work in the archetype days of creation.
For we are to lift up our eyes and see Him, through
inspiration that fuels our desires and imaginations.

The swans a-swimming represent the seven-fold gifts
from the Holy Spirit: Prophesy, Serving, Exhortation,
Teaching, Contribution, Leadership, and God’s Mercy…
holy promises that complement the substance of Salvation.

The eight maids a-milking reflect the Beatitudes,
a message given by Christ at the Sermon on the Mount.
He taught Heavenly concepts, in which we are blessed,
via inspired platitudes for us- to joyfully recount.

Nine ladies dancing recall the Fruits of the Spirit:
Love, Joy, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Self-Control,
Faithfulness, Peace, and Gentleness - sacred constructs
for soothing the pains, experienced by our weary souls.

The lords a-leaping personify Jehovah’s Ten Commandments:
instructions for worshiping only Him, keeping the Sabbath,
and various prohibitions against idolatry, blasphemy, murder,
theft, dishonesty, and adultery, which lead us off His path.

The eleven pipers piping constitute the faithful Disciples,
who walked the Earth with Christ, observing Him firsthand.
They were the original, Christian acolytes who were taught-
how to live victoriously under the pressure of Life’s demands.

The drummers drumming symbolize the twelve points of belief,
outlined in the religious doctrine, called the Apostles' Creed.
Now with greater insight, lift your voice and sing this song,
using your faith in God, that you willingly and lovingly concede.

Author Notes:

This my poetic interpretation of the familiar Christmas song. From 1558ad until 1829ad, Roman Catholics in England were not permitted to openly practice their faith. An unknown author, during that era, wrote this carol as a Catechism song for young Catholics. It has two levels of meaning: the surface meaning plus a hidden meaning, originally known only by members of their church. Each element in the carol has a code word, implying a religious tenet, which children could easily remember.

BENEATH THE SKIN

It was not a demigod, elephantiasis
of a beast, snakes sitting on head. A catastrophic

tree view.I was proud of being alive during
carpet-bombing. A catnip was needed to clear

the vision. The town was moving out shedding
its landmarks. Nocturnal flares were disturbing

the lovers. A chronic shift in sex starved
season. The birds had stopped going behind

the bushes. Each day seeks permission to bury
the dead, and grass waits for the noble feet.

Ultra hemo cover was not there. Drained out
we were becoming pale to account for the loss

of blood in cross-firing. Ultimate pain in chest
will unburden the task of a funeral prayer.

Christmas Eve

Door bells ringing, children singing
Christmas songs, just for you.
Joy they bring, with smiling faces
hoping for a coin or two.

Church bells ringing, choirs singing
Christmas carols by candlelight.
As the faithful come to worship
on this special holy night.

Lights are on the Christmas tree
pretty colours reflect on the wall.
Excited little ones, trying to sleep
hoping Santa, will come to call.

In the church they speak of shepherds
and angels coming from above.
Of how Christ was born of Mary
the prince of peace and love.

There are parties, with happy people
who are full of Christmas cheer.
Dancing, singing and laughing
and enjoying their food and beer.

At the church, the mass is over
so the congregation drift away.
Night becomes a new tomorrow.
and at last, it’s Christmas day.

She brought me joy and happy days

She brought me joy and happy days,
she brought me something that no one can remove
while she dwelt in her gentle ways,
she brought a kind of innocence to love.

NEW VERSION

even vultures will not devour the proffered
war time victims, ruined was the impression
of untitled sacrifice, a wild anemone

slips into the river of blood, I tend to forget
the faces of embers –

arson by apostles of peace, it has become a commodity,

oppression releases a promise for optic illusion
through large-prints

a near miss when the truth chokes to death,
suicidal full of nerves-

the hills tremble in anticipation, lambs
were dropping dead on a green patch

such obligation

Saved

Stuck in quicksand
Because I could barely stand the thought of not having enough
Then I see a hand
and hear the words
life is tough
So I look up and i see an angel
But I'm not religious
So what is this?
I reach out for the hand and she pulls me with ease
I don't feel like I'm sinking anymore
And without thinking I express my love
Throw my arms out for a hug
And she takes me in with pleasure
I have finally found the treasure I been searching for
Feelings consuming me
pressure lifting off my heart
I was torn apart from the future and she brought me back to reality
I owe her everything
For showing me the light
taking my fear of the night away and reinforcing that things will be okay

Let Us Adore Him

During one season, every year, there are songs that all will hear.
Songs like come let us adore Him, that baby born in Bethlehem,
About the birth of God’s Only Son, Who was born for everyone,
For a bigger time and reason, than the adoration of one season.

The Truth in this holiday song, should be expressed all year long,
That baby born Christ our Lord, all year long, by many, is adored,
Not only for the holiday season, but all year and for good reason,
For through the Lord Jesus Christ, all believers inherit Eternal Life.

The little baby away in a manger, to many today is just a stranger,
The little One born in a cattle stall, today is The Lord God over all,
However, many today don’t know Him, as they are mislead by sin,
That The Lord’s Miraculous Birth, for them, is of no value or worth.

We hear, Silent Night, Holy Night, once a year, it truly seems right,
But, any idea of a holy night friend, after the season, sees its end,
As that holiness that was brought, in most hearts is never wrought,
As many come to deny God’s Son, Christ who came for everyone.

The little baby, who was adored, sits in Heaven as Christ and Lord,
The stranger He is to most men, will change when He returns again,
He, who was the New Born King, will rule and reign over everything,
Far beyond any holiday hymn, as Christ rules during the Millennium.

Examine Yourself

Words from God, penned by Paul, are not for some but for all,
All who believe in The Savior, words about your life’s behavior,
Examine yourself he had said, while speaking in Christ’s stead,
Asking are we truly in Jesus Christ, as we take stock of our life?

We must fully examine our life; are we truly changed by Christ?
By His Power and His Grace, are we really believers in the faith,
With authority, Paul has to say, are we truly walking in The Way,
Are we truly living as Christ said, or in our former ways instead?

Paul speaks with seriousness, of our heart, not our appearance,
Are we truly changed from inside, so in The Lord we truly abide,
And are we moving on to maturity, in The Spirit, for men to see,
Is our life being used by Him, while in this world tainted by sin?

Are we truly God’s living sacrifice, for The Savior, Jesus Christ?
From a love which creates unity, in Christ’s Church for all to see.
Do we for our Lord, deny ourselves, for a greater eternal wealth?
Wealth, far above this time, beyond this world, by God’s design,

We must have the mind of Christ, to practice that unity in our life,
A unity which shall last forever, as God’s Church, works together,
Believers must pursue real change, in the power of Christ’s Name,
To point a needy world to Calvary, so other men can live eternally.
