Strawberry Blonde (Acrostic)

Strawberry blonde hair blown wild by the breeze
Trailing behind as her mount she did tease
Rousing his vigours as they came to a high hedge
All the way over and still they had the edge
Will her triumph be held right to the end
By and by we will know my friend
Everyone watching and urging them on
Run boy run, is the theme of their song
Rising again to jump the very last fence
You should have heard the crowd as they winced

But though the log rattled it never quite fell
Long were the sighs as the pair did so well
Onto the finish line for a big cheer
Now it's all over, some will sup beer
Down at the stables much later that day
Ellie groomed her steed in the proudest of ways....

Don't dream of ...

Don't dream of star lit summer nights,
unless I'm there in the scene with you,
take all the time you wish to pine,
for days which we can share anew.

All time we spend without a touch,
without our voices sending cheer,
are hours and days we may regret,
as times we have wasted I do fear.

For it is every lovers dearest wish,
they ever can hold each others hands,
and in their minds and hearts they know
only other true lovers understand,

All love letters, songs and poetry,
should be shown in glowing magic ways,
spelt out with flower blooms and sweets
that others cannot view without some praise.

Those special times we seek as one
will never need to be replaced,
for the bonds between a star struck pair,
are within their own frame well encased.

So when you dream your dreams tonight,
remember all we've ever felt,
from moments out on country walks,
to the day when before you I once knelt.....

An End To That Ballet

When the wind swept the path, all the leaves took a chance,
some were dropped in the pool, whilst others spun in a trance.
For some time were we entertained, then the rain had it's say,
so those droplets of pure sparkle, brought an end to that ballet...

But a light show was to follow, as the sun broke the cloud,
and the rainbow's bright curves made us all gasp out loud.
An encore came that night as owls and bats came to feed,
under the stars and the moon that the clouds had then freed...

Nature still holds it's sway when it comes to fine art,
from which we may learn some grand moves in whole or in part,
but for ever we will be only mimicking, the best of the best,
so I propose to go on watching, the show that will never once rest...

Diamond Days

Even be I dead
I will remember thee
Through all yesteryears clouds and rain
Our poetry will ever stay the same

Moments from years
No shame in those tears
You can't ever know
All our love in arrears
Such joy will not pass
When life goes under grass

Fully locked within my mind
Set fair there for all time
Images permeate, sounds possess
Once when you spilt wine upon your dress
Those grass stains from our parkland frolics
The time when we ran past three alcoholics

Once we were drawn in charcoal together
Then washed pale by the autumn weather
Shells and wet sand filled our shoes
Straggling hair, no towels, fingers blue
All of these things and so many more
Just from one day at the south shore

Each must bank their finest times
Keep the best and refute the crimes
Pack tightly all the diamond days
The winter chills and summer haze
All will keep the blues at bay
When at last we slumber night and day

Book Of Life

So many pages in the book of life
Tell tales about the trouble and strife
The joys and the achings we may endure
How much of each we can't be sure

For there are gaps within the tales
How much traction have you on the rails
Are the sleepers loose or rotting away
One cold wind may blow your plans astray

If only the book was made to be clear
Like those we read to our children dear
Pictures and soundboards help for sure
To keep their tales simple and pure

So please whoever is designing the next
Book of life to come off the press
Can we ask just one more simple thing
Some variables that we can find within

All it would take to make us feel secure
Would be flaps to reveal the future for sure
By lifting these flaps the choice would be made
After which we would never again be afraid

Bitter Pills

The air grew chill as she sapped my will
with the heat of her words and manner
though it was all on the phone and I was alone
still my skin became redder and redder

With the heat of her words and her manner

My skin went quite taught and all was for naught
as no pause would allow me to reply
so I soaked up the rage which took such an age
till my mind all but burst out to deny

As no pause would allow me to reply

Though patient most times I considered her crimes
far beyond those limits I could longer endure
so with a sharp intake of wind I strove to rescind
her presumption of rights above all who were pure

Far beyond those limits I could longer endure

"Now mother" I spake, "let there be no mistake"
I cannot allow all that you have said
in particular I find, when you speak out your mind
they should still have rights though they're dead

I cannot allow all that you have said

For a pause she was quiet, she could not deny it
then a soft voice began to  reveal
it was just the doctors pills causing her mind ills
and she went on to make an appeal

As her soft voice began to reveal

All the torment inside and hurt to her pride
for she knew it had all come from her past
after so many years of loss, such emotional cost
from pregnancies failed until the last

For she knew it had all come from her past

Yes there are pills you can take, might that be a mistake
as our bodies succumb to small print we have missed
chemicals can induce an end to a truce
when we should have made up and kissed

As our bodies succumb to small print we have missed...

A Certain Lady

There's a certain wistful aspect to her gentle grace
A fair haired lovely with elegance embedded in her face
Clear eyed and full lipped with cheekbones well defined
And just to top that outer view is the beauty of her mind

Such a combination must be more than many men can bear
So much for them to live up to - may they hope they can ensnare
A lady filled with passions that are reserved just for that one
Who offers safety for her heart and can carry her along

With them hand in hand till the night is never gone
Amid the certain knowledge that they will ever look upon
A sight that others cannot as her views are just for him
The truth is that within their bond there never will be sin

For sin is just for other souls that have yet come to learn
Without deep trust and honesty they just cannot discern
The reality of true love is we hold the other high
In every way above ourselves and without the need to ply

Our troth with false pretences in the hope that they might sway
The other's will towards us without a momentary delay
For time is well invested only when all is sincere
Then we will have earned the right to call the other dear

Poets Dreams

Pray dream of wondrous places where inspiration grows on trees
And jangles ever more in a soft warm scented breeze
Where all of us that ever once paused to write
Will find some inspiration accosts us in the night
When dreams portray through swirling mists
The true passions of a lovers kiss
And so can bring more than prose to those
Who strain to see up on their tip toes
The wonders of a new bloomed rose
That's growing there behind the wall
We couldnt climb when we were small...

Sweet dreams I sanction for all who scribe
Those who create must not be denied
A vision from whence they cast new scenes
Painted in rhyme from those eery dreams
Take sustenance and candles long
Behold the words that flow upon
The parchment, screen or paper pad
With quill or type or pen we're glad
To find the steady pass of time
Does not our spirits undermine
As long as ever we may sit and write
For all our days and flicker filled nights
