Lost And Found

I was lost out in the alleyway
Discarded, broken, on my last limb
I looked fine but inside I was hurting
I had the word lost burned in my heart
And gone on my brain
I shouldn’t have made it
Should’ve stayed in the lost box
But some people found me and snatched me from it
One person in particular came from nowhere
And now I’ve been lost and found.

Robbed

About to finish it strong
Carrying it to the end all the way
All the loose ends have been tied up
Success is inching closer and closer to me
I’m getting ready to celebrate and rejoice
Then out of the corner of my eye I see something
It’s sneaking ever so slightly out of view
But then in a matter of seconds it whips in
And robs what I was going to have earned
I’ve been robbed

To Many to Let Down

I feel like I’m being stretched way too far
I’m doing all I can but it’s not enough for me
I got this pressure bouncing around inside, causing damage
I’m doing the best I can but I feel like I’m failing
It’s an unreachable goal that can’t be met
I would need to build a tower of Babel to reach it
Even then I don’t think I’d reach it
There’s not enough time and the box is closing in
There’s just too many to let down, to many to let down.

Prism of Fate

Surrounded on all sides
My fate is watching me, snickering
Hoping I make one misstep that veers me off a cliff
I’m surrounded by it I can’t break out
This prism of fate is all a mind game
The mind game is becoming real however
It’s not blurring its breaking the lines between dream and reality
Soon it’ll break free and have reign over me
Welcome to my prism of fate.

We All Bleed

No matter what we go through in our lives
The troubles, the self doubt, the plans that fall through
Our best laid plans crashing and burning in a fiery display
Funny isn’t it? We think were so different from each other
That may be true in what we eat, what music we like, and what not
But when you pick through all those useless differences
All the things that make us unique among each other
It comes down to this. We all bleed and we all feel for each other
It’s strung in our DNA and we can’t get rid of it.

Lofty Goals

Like skyscrapers loom in the sky
My goals tower above me, dead eye staring at me
The pressure is ridiculous and I’m sick of it
These lofty goals are ruining me and I can’t reach them
It doesn’t help that over half of them are impossible
I feel like I’m in a cage running in circles
In one of those padded rooms you see in asylums
Just so I don’t do something stupid
Maybe it’s time I make my lofty goals into something else
Maybe possible goals would be a good start.

No More Waiting

Life is not meant to be waited on
It’s meant to be taken advantage of
It’s a gift that shouldn’t be wasted or thrown away
Every breath we take is a display of a miracle happening
Our heart beats to the speed of our life
It’s a built in metronome that is made for a fast pace
Our hearts should be clocking out at max speed
No more waiting for things to fall into our lap
It’s time to make things happen.

Happy, Ugly, Brutal

These are my happy, ugly, brutal times
Syria’s on fire and we got freedom fighters in the streets
Libya is the modern day Alamo except with barely any protection
While the bodies are dragged through the streets a video is to blame
As the caskets are rolled in we take a moment to reflect
On what we really know what killed them
Osama bit the bullet and New York rejoiced with one raised fist
Twin Towers that fell into the ground have come back up
Coming straight from the ashes, rising like a phoenix
While its people shouted “we will not be afraid”
Going from gathering in the streets for comfort
To gathering in the streets chanting victory
If there was any chivalry left, it’s dead and gone
Just turn on your TV and follow a campaign
The time of hope and change has passed
And people are still at point A and back to the drawing board
We are at the crossroads of our time
One way is gonna bury us and another way is gonna raise us
These are my happy, ugly, brutal times.

City Watches Me

As I’m skating down the sidewalk
Listening to my own skateboard
As it click clacks the lines in the sidewalk
I’m rolling through the city, through the night air
I’m at peace, feeling like I’m right where I should be
The city is my playground and I feel like it’s watching me
At night it seems to come alive or is at peace at least
It provides with a rest while I sit on its curbs
Shelter with overhangs of buildings pointing towards the sky
As I skate I know the city watches me

My Nightmare

As he’s sitting down on the curb
Broken, tired of losing everything he has
He sits up and takes a deep breath
He thinks of all he’s lost of what he use to have
Of the soul and spirit he use to have
Hes known as a failure and amounted to nothing
His memories of a cherished childhood is all he has left
That’s my nightmare.
