Upon the chains that held them down,
A fire was stoked, fueled by agony and injustice,
The fire to rid of the hatred in which they drown.
And the freedom came with such a promise,
That couldn’t be endured by the southern caucasians.
So Hayes ended the era of Reconstruction,
And the blacks still faced an unfair obstruction.
The men cloaked in white with their torches,
And ashen crosses laid in the grass,
No matter what class.
On they fought,
For the rights they were told of.
For the nonviolent, ML King preached,
Ever so closely the rights were reached.
They were attacked for being rebellious peacefully,
But on they fought.
Mrs.Parks did a deed that was ever so inspiring,
so the protests against bus transportation transpired,
Discrimination ended on the buses for good,
The act ever so cleverly planned by NAACP.
On they fought, just like Thurgood,
Did for young Brown.
The schools were ordered to be brought together,
Although they knew of the blazing weather.
For the Nine that were in Little Rock,
It was so much more than a transfer.
But it was a distasteful stock,
yet on they fought.
Young men that were as gracious as any other man,
Were punished for being at a counter.
Killed by the Klan when they were set free.
For Malcolm changes,
And Medgar’s death,
They stood like a titanium post in an ever growing tornado.
They were waterboarded and beaten,
But they continued their march.
Their spirits couldn’t be broken,
Their voices so outspoken.
For the generosity of Jonathan Daniels,
Who gave his life for the protection of the children he watched,
On they fought!
The Freedom Rides were brave and in peace,
But the explosions of fire were what awaited.
Little Ruby and her northern teacher,
Were still learning through the terror,
Through all the errors,
On they fought.
And the three men arrested for fighting in the movement,
Never saw the day after they were released.
Wallace held his post for segregation,
But he couldn’t stop the integration.
LBJ finally ended the fight by setting forth his acts of justice.
Those three laws changed everything,
They could now rest their bloodied wings.
From the sirens that lasted decades,
It took such effort to get the deserved rights.
From the red lines to the bombing that killed four little girls,
Their calls of desperation were answered,
On the eve of a new generation.

Scared is human,
Dignity is human,
Pride is human,
Bravery is human,
Intelligence is human,
Stupidity is human,
Courage is human,
Cowardice is human,
Gallantry is human,
Protection is human,
Mercy is human,
Worry is human,
Love is human,
Embarrassment is human,
Helpfulness is human,
Helplessness is human,
Sorrow is human,
Depression is human,
Sadness is human,
Jealousy is human,
Happiness is human,
Freedom is human,
Longing is human,
Anger is human,
Kindness is human,
Strong is human,
Weak is human,
Fear is human.
HATRED IS DALEK.

I long for your kiss,
I crave your touch.
Your lips as sweet as sugar,
And skin as gentle as the first falling snow.
My heart aches and my body shakes,
For without you,
My heart is dead,
The sky is bleeding,
My sheets are stained red.
Your eyes are the light that brings me from the dark,
As gentles and warm as a newborn spark.
Your laugh is the music that makes me bright,
My dear shining knight.
My eyes are dark and my heart is blue...
But when you come around,
They change their hue.

I'm so confused,
Lost inside my heart not knowing what to do.
Watching my feelings being stuck on replay,
Both of you don't even know,
That my decision has yet to be shown.
You'll never what I have up my sleeve,
Whilst my mind is tearing away at me.
Just leave me be,
'Cause there isn't a soul that could see to me.
My best friend and someone who I just got to know.
My other half and my beau.
How can it be?
That you two could simply just love me?

-NOTICE: DO NOT COMMIT SUICIDE! ! ! -
You dream of the blood that rips down your arm,
As much as you hate it,
It makes your heart warm.
You cry the tears you didn't know you had,
And your heart still isn't iron-clad.
Why you live,
You don't even know.
You're turning as pale as the winter snow.
Death likes to taunt you as you cry,
Why don't you sing a lullaby?
Fall asleep, little Angel of Death,
Before you have one last breath.
Don't keep up the act you always have.
Just close your eyes and feel the pain.
It might be the only thing that keeps you sane.
Bye, bye, little Angel of Death.
Close your eyes ans snap your neck.
Heaven will never be close to you,
Hell is the place you're driving to.
Melanie Gardiner, 18 grudnia 2012
There aren't enough words to describe how I feel,
The way I love you could melt the strongest steel.
I've felt pain, sorrow, and fear,
Yet you're the only one whose heart I hold dear.
My world is so small,
and yet you grow tall.
In my dreams,
You'll always be,
Some sort of perfect catastrophe.
Love me forever,
And I'll do the same.
For my heart you could sever,
But I'll be to blame.
I'll be with you,
Wherever you are.
Even if you begin to rue,
My heart will turn to tar.
Remember my name,
Dream of me.
You keep me sane,
My perfect catastrophe.
Melanie Gardiner, 6 września 2012
I'm tired,
I'm young,
I'm drowning just for fun.
Whenever I see you,
It reminds me of why I want to go,
and why I want to stay.
I've lost blood,
and that's why I acted like I was caught in mud.
I've gotten so used to pain,
it's the only thing that's keeping me sane.
It may seem like I'm tired,
and I am,
But not because I'm loosing sleep.
A towel can clean up my relief spill,
But what's the thing that won't let me kill?
Melanie Gardiner, 31 sierpnia 2012
Trust is something you can not see,
But is inside you and me,
Its the key to all people's hearts,
The virtue that is beyond smarts,
A link, a bond,
A connection, a love,
Trust is all that,
it seems to be,
But the question is always,
Do you love me?
Of course they can love,
Everybody can.
But let me ask this,
Is Trust at hand?
Melanie Gardiner, 31 sierpnia 2012
To find me,
Track me.
But do not track me by my game,
For I will never, ever be tame,
Do not track me by my blood,
You may as well be tracking mud.
Do not track me with a hound,
For a scent won't be found.
Do not track me by my face,
For it will never be in your database.
Do not track me by your eye,
Or you may as well say goodbye.
Do not track me by my prints,
For I am not one to leave indents.
Do not track me by my mark,
Do not track me by my spark,
Do not track me by my heart,
Do not track me with your tech.
Track me by the thing around my neck.
Track me,
Track me,
If you can,
Because all the king's horses
And all the king's men,
Will never see me,
AGAIN.
Melanie Gardiner, 31 sierpnia 2012
Do you hear?
Can you see?
Isn't there a man following me?
I can see,
I can hear,
Especially when I look in the mirror.
To me he's white,
To others clear,
He follows me around,
and watches my every move,
Something about him doesn't sooth.
Don't leave me here!
Don't turn out the lights,
Something about him makes me fright.
I think he wants to kill me.
He's clung to me,
Like some kind of addict to weed.
It's driving me insane,
He keeps making it rain!
The dark is now nothing,
I fear him the most.
Or rather the fear that he is a ghost.
