Poem: Shadows of Shame

Shadows of shame, exist in darkness,
but are not concealed from my God.
Ungodly behaviors can never be hidden,
from Him, Who is omnipotent, omniscient
and omnipresent; Truth can’t be overridden.

Shadows of shame, are easily dispersed
by Jehovah’s piercing Light of Truth;
when looking to Him for assistance,
one’s face will become radiant with joy
from acting with loyalty and persistence.

Shadows of shame, contradict God’s desire
for us to operate with spiritual transparency.
Begin a new work in us today and everyday;
Consume the darkness of sin within us now,
since You O Lord, are the Light, Truth and Way!

This reminds me of the "coram Deo/Dei gratia" Christian philosophy - that a Christian, by the grace of God, should strive to live his/her life with in a way that is pleasing in God's sight. To live a life "before God" (coram Deo; i.e. without hypocrisy) "by the grace of God" (Dei gratia; i.e. in reliance to His undeserved favor) - that should be the goal of a believer in Christ. A beautiful poem, indeed!

Thanks for your kind and thoughtful feedback; I agree completely with the perception 'that a Christian, by the grace of God, should strive to live his/her life with in a way that is pleasing in God's sight'; too bad that more of us are unable to grasp the simplicity of this Christian ideal. -Joe
