Never Reject a Pauper

There once was a pauper who lived in a garret.
She made many tapestries; was friends with a ferret.
Although she lacked the privations of life,
She longed incessantly to become a wife.

So her friend introduced her to a gamut of men.
She soon fell in love with one named Ben.
She offered her dowry of five million rugs,
but with an offer so scanty, he just gave her a hug.

Years passed, and she grew disconsolate,
From remembering that day that was oh, so unfortunate.
So one night she snuck into his house,
As creepily, as sneakily, as a mouse.

And during that night, many felt a dreadful chill,
After listening to Ben's screams, ever so shrill.
