Clouds Across The Moon

Standing here on the brighter side of life,
I realize missing out on the things I loved.
Walking down the shady lovers lanes
as the clouds moved across the moon.

I’ve seen the glamour and glitz of life
and long for the simple things of yesterday
when we walked arm in arm together
as the clouds moved across the moon.

Tomorrow is another day in the spotlight
regretting for another time again
of giving up all those yesterdays
as the clouds moved across the moon.

It’s hard to try not to regret
all the things you rushed forward to
even though at the time it meant losing you
as the clouds moved across the moon.

One day I may return home again,
when my dreams have turned to dust
then I may walk again with you
as the clouds move across the moon.

Tracks We Leave Behind

In a hundred years from now
when we are not around,
I wonder if we’ll be remembered
for the tracks we leave behind,
our legacy for our short time here.

Will our meagre efforts
be rewarded with immortal fame
or will they be extinguished
like the candles flame?
We can only live in hope.

One day in the distant future
will a student over our work ponder
of how our life was reflected
in the tracks we leave behind
and the confusion we sometimes feel.

Let’s hope that future student
sees all our love within
the words we carefully chose
to represent our life
in the tracks we leave behind.

A Traveller Of The Roads

I wonder where I am going
for I know where I have been.
I wonder which new roads
I will have travel down
before I get back here again.

My life is such a mystery
from dawn to dusk,
and I wonder if ever
I will find the place
where I will truly belong.

I am a traveller of the roads
never calling anywhere my home,
but I keep looking for
the right heart on the right road
and a place to call home.

All Over Again

The fragrant days of summer have disappeared
giving way to the chilly winds of autumn
that strips away the green coats from trees
leaving them bare and barren
before Jack Frost fills the morning air.
Collars hug closely around necks
as the cold white down fall from the sky,
to lay a pale blanket on the ground
that hides some of the unsightly sights and sounds.
Fires burn with radiant glow
as out faced hands try too capture its warmth.
Soon another season will once more awake.
The barren will breathe new life once more
and the colours will return unleashed,
as the circle of the seasons
will begin all over again.

Fields Of Fantasy

As we walk through
our fields of fantasy
that our hearts desire,
a place where our tormented soul
can at times retire
to breathe the cool
refreshing mountain air.
A place we go
out of the destructive hues
to lull our senses
into gentle platitudes.
The imaginary summer
of our fateful dreams
with romantic overlays
beyond the encroaching world
on our fields of fantasy
perched on clouds
of fluffy white down.

Quiet

We all seek at times
a measure or two
of silken stillness
caught within the hustle bustle
of our daily lives.

The quiet that descends slowly
as summer sap oozing from a tree
to crystallize our moments
into tranquil harmony
that refreshes
our obliterating soul.

Hinkle, Finkle And Fee

Across the borders of time and space,
they came with the journeymen
and their names were Hinkle, Finkle and Fee.
To fight the good fight
and set all in their wake free.
Stories were told of their bravery
as they fought the oppressors strong.
How in their dealing
they were shrewd, kind and fair.
Where had they come from
was a question often asked
about theses heroes of the dawn of time.
On their steeds with hooves of fire,
no one was a match for the journeymen
with Hinkle, Finkle and Fee
as they swayed their justice
across the many lands.
No sooner had they arrived
and seeing their justice prevail
they were gone again
on their steeds with hooves of fire,
the journeymen with Hinkle, Finkle and Fee.

Love

Teardrops fall invisible
amongst the falling rain.
Sadness conceals itself
amongst the anguish and pain.
Love comes in many guises
to catch us unaware
as we travel down our many roads
to seek our fortune there.
Love awaits in corners blind
to steal us in a stolen glance
and we give up to it
at each and every chance.
Thus, the world turns around
waking us each new day
with its own surprises
and you can guess
that love is not far behind.

Vulnerable

Today I almost fell down some stairs.
It gave my life a large jolt
and showed to me how vulnerable we are
as we go through our daily lives.
If it happened to me,
then it could happen to you.
A slight lapse of concentration
any accident can occur.
A missed step could
lead to our final goodbye.
I was lucky this time,
but the next time who knows.

Loneliest Time Of The Year

Christmas is the loneliest time of the year
as we remember those whom have passed along
and can never again be near.
An empty stocking on the fireplace
where a filled one should be,
the vacant place under the tree
where presents should be,
The empty space in our hearts
we carry with us all the time
and sadness lines our faces
that should be filled with smiles.
Christmas should be a time of celebration,
but with the empty spaces
there is no cheer here
in the loneliest time of the year.
