The Poet's Pen (Rite of Passage)

For every stroke of the pen
For every line,
For every phase,
For every word
Is for the brothers and sisters
Who died while bound in slavery,
The ones who marched to make this life better,
For those who continued
In the struggle
Not lettin' up
Not givin' out
Not leaning to the left or right
But "by any mean neccessary..."
By any ways of getin' there
They had a right to passage
And that passage is though the
Portals of time and space
Reachin' forward
Not lookin' to what can be
That right to passage
To hope
Where there is no none.
And now the poet's pen
Writes the poem
The words
The meaning of what can be
To in hopes in will be!
