Does God Want Us to be Perfect?
I read the Bible and learned that God wants to perfect us.
Let's be clear there. I'm not saying God wants us to be perfect or else He'll not love us - that's called legalism. What I'm trying to say is, God, in His great loving kindness for us, wants to perfect us by His grace. For sure, we can't be perfected by our own efforts. That's why we need the grace of God to first, save us, then afterwards, sanctify us to perfection.
It's none of our works or efforts that can change us as God wants us to be; rather, it's a work that can be done by His grace alone. As it is written in Philippians 1:6, "I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Jesus Christ." (MEV)
