Why Can't the Rich Be Satisfied with Their Money?

“Why can’t the rich people just be satisfied with the money that they have?”, a friend asked in Facebook.

First of all, this is not to generalize that all rich people are greedy. We’re not discounting the possibility that there are actually rich people who wish they can’t get any richer anymore.

So why are most of the rich unsatisfied with their money? It is because they are trying to fill in a gap in their soul with money - a gap that can never be filled in with anything or anyone but God. They are trying to substitute God with money, putting it in a position of being an object of worship.

We humans have that innate desire to worship an infinite and limitless entity. Many rich people (not every one of them, though) try to satisfy that desire by putting money in that position which should only be reserved to God. Problem is, they would soon realize that money is not infinite nor is it limitless. And because they are humans who are bent into sinning, they naturally don't want God. Because of this, they tend to desire for more money so they could somehow make money infinite and limitless - at least, according to their own delusion.

Fortunately enough, there will be one day that, in one way or another, they will realize that money is simply not a god - for there is only one God -  and it can never satisfy like how God satisfies. That day could arrive as soon as it should, or it could arrive when it's already too late - the day when God will already give them up to their desire of being isolated from His all-satisfying presence.

By the way, there is only one place where people can be isolated from God's all-satisfying presence, and it is the place that we call "hell" - where everything a person will experience is the exact opposite of an all-satisfying reality.
