Nuthatch
nuthatch
unlike
the chickadee
and titmouse that peck at
the seeds spread on the garden ground
instead
you choose
to scamper up
and down side to side the
gnarled trunk of the beech tree seeking
in the
many nooks and
pits the seeds that were
left for tiny you and your mate
white breast
grey back
and dark blue wings
are all i see before
you fly with your hoard drunkenly
away//
