Heart Vs. Mind: Which One Should You Really Trust?

(1/22/2015)

Well, the "philosophical"/figurative heart and and the mind are essentially one. The "philosophical"/figurative heart is the vessel of thoughts and passions; therefore, it is in the same faculty with the mind.

And here's a problem: the heart/mind of man is corrupted by sin. No wonder it is written in Jeremiah 17:9 that the "heart is more deceitful than all things and desperately wicked..." (MEV). Moreover, the Lord Jesus Christ said in Matthew 15:9 that "out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, sexual immorality, thefts, false witness, and blasphemies" (MEV).

As for me, I will not trust myself or my own mind or heart. As it is written in Romans 3:4, " Let God be true, and every man a liar" (MEV). As for me, I will just "trust in the Lord with all [my] heart, and [will] lean not on [my] own understanding; [and] in all [my] ways [I will] acknowledge Him... [so that] He will direct [my] paths... [and I will] not be wise in [my] own eyes; [but I will] fear the Lord and [will] depart from evil" (Proverbs 3:5-7, MEV; words in bracket added for personal application).
